Are You Ready?

A few weeks ago I was invited to be a part of a Bible Study and would be going to the house of a woman I had never met before. In the pictures and all over her house, it seemed as if her life was perfect.

Before leaving, I took the time to chat with her for a bit and thanked her for allowing me to enter her home. I complimented her on the pictures on the wall and on her child’s drawings. She shared more pictures with me, until I asked “who is that?”... Her tears started to fall down her cheeks and suddenly she opened her heart to share one of her biggest struggles and one of the things that is currently making her feel helpless.

In that moment, I knew I had been called to that house for another reason. God had a divine appointment. She needed a sister in Christ who would lift her up, encourage her to continue running her race, to lift her arms in worship, and to pray with her.

In Galatians 6:2 it says, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ". In 1 Thessalonians 5:11 it says "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

When I left her house, all I could think about was, "What if I was so caught up in my life that I didn’t take the time to listen to her? What if I was not in God's word every day learning more about Jesus? Would I have been ready for this moment? Would I have been able to be the person to lift her up and pray for her?"

Today, I encourage you to take that step of faith when God places you in the right place at the right time. We don’t have to know it all or be perfect. We just need to love Jesus, spend time with Him, and read His word. Let's equip ourselves so when preparation meets opportunity, We. Are. Ready!
