For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT
Dear Sisters,
The message I’m sharing with you may not be new to you, but if you are anything like me, you might just need a reminder. The world puts so many unrealistic expectations and standards on us, which can sometimes be overwhelming. I have to remind myself at times that I don’t live by the standards of the world. The world doesn’t define my worth…I am God’s Masterpiece! Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!
One of the things that I find relaxing and refreshing is painting. When I am in the mood to paint, I don’t care what’s going on around me because all my attention is on my canvas, envisioning what I want it to look like in the end. I love abstract painting because I have full freedom to create whatever I want. I have used all kinds of different abstract techniques but my absolute favorite is pour painting. With pour painting, I thin out the paint and layer it on the canvas then rock it back and forth to create this marbled painting. I think the reason I love this technique so much is because there are no boundaries, and no lines to stay in between. I can be free to do whatever I want. :) I have a few pieces that I have created with the same colors and techniques that have come out completely different. They are truly one of a kind. They are my masterpieces!
This is why Ephesians 2:10 is one of my favorite verses… just like I take time to create my art, God our creator took His time to create us. Who we are doesn’t fit into the mold of which the world created. Each of us was created with divine intentionality, woven together carefully by the hands of our Creator. I love it when I hear people say I'm just so different. My reply is YES! You are different and that’s a wonderful thing. Being God's masterpiece doesn't mean that we have to be flawless or have it all together. It means embracing our authenticity, owning our story, and walking boldly in the truth of who we are. When I fully embraced the totality of who I am, flaws and all, I began to appreciate what God has created. Every part of me and every part of you is no mistake.
God did not create us as these beautiful masterpieces for nothing. He created us new in Christ Jesus so we can do the good things he has planned for us long ago. We are created ON PURPOSE, FOR A PURPOSE. God created you and me with everything we need to be, everything He needs us to be. We can get very confused about what that purpose is if we are not seeking God for the answer.
I encourage you to pray and ask God to show you all of the unique things about you. Ask him to show you how he wants to use those things for His glory. Let's continue to encourage one another and celebrate all that God has created us to be!
