WWJD?

“How joyful are those who fear the Lord— all who follow his ways! You will enjoy the fruit of your labor. How joyful and prosperous you will be!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭128‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

WWJD? That is the caption on my T-shirt, that I’ve had for some time, but as I was getting it out of the car and grabbing my clothes to prepare to go workout on this particular day , it really caught my attention. I stopped and stared at it as I pondered on that as a question versus a famous catchphrase- What would Jesus do? Not that I haven’t thought about that before, but this day was different. You see , this year , as I do my yearly routine of reading the Bible in a year, I’m doing it on purpose, with all intentionality of holding to each word, pondering and meditating on knowing who God truly is. With so much going on around us in the world and in culture, I just feel an urge to reacquaint myself intimately with Him. In doing so, one of the greatest lessons that I am receiving is being obedient to each directive the He gives. I mean fully obedient. not just in some things but in all areas. His words reminds us, as believers, we are called to stand firm in our faith and not be swayed by the empty philosophies of the world. We are to be united in love, encouraged in heart, and rooted in Christ, who holds all wisdom and knowledge. Let us offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God, allowing Him to transform us and renew our minds so that we may discern His will and live in a way that is pleasing to Him. Let us not be divided in our loyalty, but fully devoted to God in all that we do.

So as I was standing there looking at this shirt, I began to think of all the things I was trying to handle and fix myself, and the confusion and frustration it was causing, I asked the question out loud “ what would Jesus do?” And suddenly remembered, I’m not alone in making decisions. Matter of fact , I have the help of an ever present, all knowing, the creator of all things , God himself. I don’t have to rely on my own wisdom or strength, but rather on His. So instead of trying to figure everything out on my own, I need to pause, seek His guidance and trust that He will lead me in the right direction.

As I went on with my workout that day, I kept repeating the question in my mind- WWJD. It became a constant reminder to seek God’s will in everything I do, to trust in His plan and to be obedient to His word. And as I did, I found a sense of peace and clarity that I had been missing.

So now, every time I put on that T-shirt, I am reminded of the importance of seeking God’s will in all things and being obedient to His word. I am reminded that I am not alone in my decisions, but that I have a loving and faithful God who is always with me, guiding me and leading me in the way I should go. And for that, I am truly grateful. WWJD- What Would Jesus Do? A question that holds so much power and wisdom, if only we would take the time to truly ponder and act upon it.
